Besides snacking, you also need some main course. Cold-water fishes such as Alaskan salmon, sardines, and Atlantic mackerel are rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Yes, you'll get all the "good fat"!


The National Library of Medicine published a study where they found Omega-3 fatty acids supplementation had a positive effect on glucose control and lipid levels in people with type 2 diabetes. Omega-3s also help in increasing levels of HDL (good) cholesterol and lowering the artery-clogging LDL cholesterol.
