Is GP Block of Meerut Really Haunted or Deep Conspiracy has Paved its Way to Some Dark Secret Story?

Is GP Block of Meerut Really Haunted or Deep Conspiracy has Paved its Way to Some Dark Secret Story

Meerut is one of the most well-known cities located in Uttar Pradesh, India and is currently a part of the National Capital Region(NCR). The city is marked for the development of urban spaces, growing infrastructure, and ancient settlements that date back to the Indus Valley Civilization.

Being an old city, Meerut had to face several ups and downs and have few places connecting to all those unforeseen events and spooky tales. This has spread the belief among the citizens that the city of Meerut is home to a few haunted places such as GP Block.

Meerut is also known as “Ravaan ka Sasural” is an ancient city believed to be once ruled by “Rakshas” Mayasur who is known as Mandodari’s father in The Ramayana. In earlier times it is said that the whole of Uttar Pradesh was known as Maya-Rashtra. Mandodari was born in Maya-Rashtra and later married Ravaana hence the name “Ravaan ka Sasural” (Ravana’s in law’s house).

An ancient house situated between the thick trees and vegetation growing around it which is on the brink of falling apart and no houses nearby makes a perfect example of a haunted place.

GP Block of Meerut:

The GP Block of Meerut also has one such place. The three buildings in the palace are said to have been abandoned for several decades. The walls of these buildings have ravaged by time wild foliage covering the buildings from all the sides and the air of eeriness best defines the GP Block perfectly.

But according to the usual beliefs, it is not a single house but three structured combined to form this haunted area. It is a compound with three buildings surrounding it. According to historians, this house belonged to British Army Forces with the style of architecture of the house in the early 1900s. It undoubtedly belonged to some rich families before they decided to leave this place.

The entire area is a defense compound and under army protection. There are no houses or buildings nearby apart from a renowned school, St. Mary’s Academy, and a banquet hall. The people living there said that there was never an instance they saw anyone living in the house or as they said in Hindi, “Jaha tak humne isse dekha hai yeh hamesha se tutta phutta hi hai kabhi kisi ko issme rehte hue nahi dekha.” (The building stands here like this damaged and broken for a long time. We haven’t seen anyone residing here).

It is said that 6 caretakers are taking care of the house living there. Now the question arises that why does a place which is considered haunted needs caretakers’?

Hauntings of GP Block are Real?

As we all know that for any place to be considered haunted there is always a story of something tragic happening over that place but the GP Block has no such story apart from people talking about seeing four teenagers eating and drinking beer at that place.

There is another rumor of seeing a woman wearing all red entering and exiting the place or sitting on the rooftop of the house. There are also no stories regarding who the four teenagers are or who the lady in red is.

There are also no incidents where a ghost had tried to hurt any human as I earlier stated 6 caretakers are living in the house so how is it possible that they have never seen or they have never been hunted by any ghost.

Once an online blogger also decided to visit this place to discover its mystery and went at around 8 PM. According to him, he decided to park his bike at the nearest paan shop and then went to the place and while he was roaming around the place he heard voices of some people talking and got scared what if it’s a ghost.

He decided to wait there while holding his breath and after some time the voices stopped talking and he heard footsteps. He saw that 3 teenagers around the age of 16-17 were leaving the place. The three walked some distance silently and then the three turned to their paths.

He decided to go to his bike and there was also one of the guys walking in front of him and turned when he heard footsteps but did nothing and continued walking in the dark silently after reaching the main street the 16-17-year-old hired a Rickshaw and went his jolly way.

The blogger was at first confused about what happened at that time and decided to leave the place but the next day he went to the same paan shop and talked with the shop owner about what he saw and experienced last night and the reaction of the paan shop owner shocked him.

Mystery revealed!

The shop owner laughed and said that there is no such thing as a ghost in the GP Block. It’s just a place where teenagers who are curious about drinking and smoking come to drink so that no one sees them and report it to their parents.

When asked about the lady in a red dress he further explained that there is no such thing as a lady in a red dress, it's just some prostitutes people hire and spend their night at this place. When asked why there are no houses nearby and why people are scared to enter the place he said that the land is under army protection so there are no houses nearby and why would anyone enter a place which looks like it can fall any moment.

He said that anyone would have answered his question regarding the ghosts and yes there are no ghosts over there and everybody in Meerut knows this. He explained that as his exact words “Aiyashi ka adda hai yeh” (This place is for debauchery) people come here to get drunk and sometimes with prostitutes and teenagers come here in the day to smoke. The caretakers living at the place come and go they do not permanently live there.

There many abandoned places in India which are used as a secret place to do things like smoking and drinking which are not very open topics one can talk about in India. The topic of alcohol in itself considered taboo. Prostitution, although it is there in every city of India, is a big no-no for society.

The younger generation is growing up in a conservative household where topics like drinking are not openly discussed due to which they have formed this notion in their mind that it must be something cool.

There are always some people who become a resource for others to learn new things. But not all new things are good. When in school and colleges the person who drinks or smoke weed is considered cool in young minds and we all want to belong somewhere so we try to impress others and make ourselves look cool.

Due to this, the youngsters in India have engaged themselves into various types of merrymaking like drinking and smoking, which their parents are unaware of. Places like The GP Block in Meerut, India are used as a place where youngsters can live freely without any fear of their parents finding out about this as they like to say.

Conclusion

How did all these ghost stories start? Might be they were always there as local people talked about it, which is not a surprise as people always link deserted places to supernatural forces such as ghosts.

What gave these stories wind when a television show reported the site as one of the most haunted sites in India in 2011. Since then the stories started spreading like fire and even people who had never experienced any unusuality started to believe the stories.

It is indeed a big question about the sources of information obtained by the television shows, however, there is a possibility that before the Army posted caretakers, people might have been using the compound wrongly.

Our parents have socialized us by feeding supernatural stories and suggesting that we must keep out of abandoned places as ghosts might reside in these places.

It is possible that people feared this place in the past due to these blind beliefs but then some people saw some guys and lonely woman walking around the complex. This created a belief of hauntings among the people, which took the form that four men drinking with a woman.
