Mohammed Bijeh: Raped and Killed 16 Young Boys to Take Revenge on the Society
Several thousands of Iranians cheered up as with the public execution of a man in a town square. The man, Muhammad Bijeh, was convicted of murdering more than 20 people. Most of the victims who fell into his hands were children. With the presence of the relatives of the victims, who came for begging justification for their death, the court officials ordered severe punishment to the criminal.
Childhood:
Mohammed Basjee, better known as Bijeh, was born on 7 February 1982, in Quchan, Razavi Khorasan Province, Iran. He had 6 brothers and an equal number of half-brothers. His mother died when he was 4 years old, and his father, who was a merchant remarried immediately after his wife’s death.
Bijeh described his father as a ‘barbaric person’ and had no memory of his mother. During his childhood, his legs were chained, and he was beaten with a cane. Once his father even tried to kill him with a stick. He loved going and learning at school, but due to his father’s pressure, he had to abandon it and work. At the age of 11, he shifted to Khutanabad with his family and started working at a furnace. He was sexually abused at the age of 11. This incident left a profound impact on his psyche, and he was driven by the need to take revenge.
Serial Crimes:
He committed the crime of raping and killing 16 young boys between March and September 2004. The age of all the boys he inflicted his cruelty ranged between the ages of 8 to 15. In addition to this, he also killed two adults. Bijeh had confessed to the rapes and that he was motivated to take revenge on the society he lived in and the sufferings he bared after his mother’s death and the lack of affection. He said “I suffered cruelty from childhood, and when I compared my life with others, I had to commit such acts.
Death:
On 14 September 2004, he was convicted of the crimes and was tried in Branch 74 of the Tehran Penal Code under Masour Yavarzadeh Yeganeh, the presiding judge. In the same year on 27 September, he was sentenced to 100 lashes which were followed by his execution. Everybody was shocked when Bijeh said that had he not been arrested he would have killed 100 children. On 16 March 2005, Bijeh received punishment in the town near the desert area where the killing was carried out known as Pakdasht in Iran. His shirt was removed, and he was handcuffed. At the same time, he received 100 lashes from different judicial officers in front of a crowd of 5000 people.
Even when he was flocked, he fell to the ground more than once, but he didn’t cry. A relative of one of the victims somehow managed to bypass the security and stabbed Bijeh. After that Milad Kahani, mother of one of the victims tied a blue nylon rope around his neck, and he was hung 10 meters above the ground by the crane until he died. He earned the names like the ‘Hyena’ or ‘The Vampire of Tehran Desert’ for he lured the boys to the desert by saying they were going on hunting and then poisoned and sexually abused them, after which their bodies were buried in shallow graves.
