Mystery of Bhangarh Fort: Archaeological Survey of India Declared it as Asia's Most Haunted Place
The 17th-century Bhangarh Fort stands tall, grim, and unbeaten in the Alwar district of Rajasthan, IndiaEven today, the. However, today the sprawling defense and its premises are infamous as one of the most haunted sites in India.

Curious researchers worldwide have spent their time finding the secrets of the fort, but their thirst for curiosity is filled up with the absence of tales by the locals. The mystery of the mysterious Bhangarh Fort came out with the mythical story of Princess Ratnavati and a hermit who dwelt there.
Princess Ratnavati and the Evil Magician
Ratnavati is said to be a lovely princess of her time. According to legends, her beauty and physical attractiveness were spellbound, attracting many suitors around the country with the wish to marry her. Amongst these suitors, there was a sorcerer named Singhia who was well aware that he was not the match for the princess and hence decided to entice her with his magical powers.
He found himself lucky when he saw the mistress of Ratnavati in the market, who came to purchase oil for the princess. Meanwhile, Singhia enchanted the oil with his power of black magic. Ratnavati was also very clever and, after taking the oil from her mistress, understood that the oil was spilled. She immediately dropped the fat on the ground, which turned into a rock, started rolling towards the magician, and ultimately crushed him.
Before dying, the magician Singhia cursed the city of Bhangarh to death. This caused the town to fail in witnessing further rebirths. Later, there was a battle between Bhangarh and Ajabgarh in which Princess Ratnavati was killed. This added more weight to his curse.

The Hermit's Curse
According to another folklore, a hermit of the locality dwelt near the palace. He insisted that no house near his habitat would cast a shadow on his home. However, after completion, the fort was found to release a vast shadow and overpower the property of the hermit. This enraged him, and he cursed the fort.
The Fort under the Curses
Till today the effect of both the curses can be felt, and the scream and crying of women, the sound of breaking bangles and strange music from the fort can be heard. There have been instances where a unique perfume emanated from the Bhangarh Fort, along with ghostly shadows and inexplicable lights.
People who dared to go and visit the place stated that an invisible entity followed them and even slapped them. Any people who went into the fort after sunset never came back. The doors are, therefore, always locked after dusk, and entry into the Bhangarh Fort at night is forbidden by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
